Essential Las Vegas News, Tips, Deals and WTF.
Recent developments include games which combine the features of live table games with those of slot machines: The multi-player Roulette automatically spins the ball, but the bet and payout function is mostly handle by computerized video terminals for each player.
Also, in the Wild Wild West area, a video recorded "blackjack dealer" on a big TV screen "deals" as the player bet on a video terminal which shows their "cards" in a multi-player game. Aside from this exception, smoking is banned by law throughout the rest of the casino and hotel. Under New Jersey law, persons under 21 years of age are not permitted to gamble. They may only pass through the main aisles of the casino when accompanied by someone over 21 years old to cross between hotel areas and exits, and may not stop or slow down to observe the games.
Bally's Atlantic City participates along with other Caesars Entertainment properties in the " Total Rewards " loyalty program for their players, guests, and other customers. There are four tiers of membership, increasing in status: Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and Seven Star.
Opened on July 2, , as an expansion of Bally's Atlantic City, it was originally extensively themed to the American Old West , with waterfalls, faux gold mines and a running stream. It is notable for being one of the only fully themed casinos on the East Coast. The exterior features a facade made to resemble an old western town, while the inside featured a large mountain and other western town facades.
The western theme has been toned down in favor of a party atmosphere in order to attract a younger demographic. The Virginia City Buffet was closed and the casino floor area was reduced in size; for a period of time in , all live table games and most slot machines were removed. A World Series of Poker -branded poker room allows simultaneous live and online play. A new stage for live entertainment was also part of the renovations. Further renovations occurred in and The only slot machines besides those in Coyote Kate's Slot Parlor are located near the new stage.
The area between the stage and the far back poker rooms remains vacant but plans may still be in the works for more to be added. The bar offers ceiling to floor windows with views of the boardwalk and beach. It also features an entrance with accordion folding glass doors which can remain open for access to outdoor seating on the Boardwalk.
It replaced the Rita's and the North entrance to the casino. Taste of the Shore is a food court in the "Gateway" area between the hotel lobby and the Claridge Hotel. Bally's proper does not have an all-you-can-eat buffet, but promotes the "Palace Court Buffet" on the 3rd level of its sister property Caesars Atlantic City , with which it shares an indoor connection.
The overall decor could use a revamp and I was very disappointmed my favorite restaurant, Pickles, was closed until Summer. We also used our Total Rewards credit card credits to get our other meals free, so it was certainly a good deal. The room in the Dennis Tower was big and the bedding was good.
The room was clean but there was no view, the windows were frosted over. The room had a small table with 4 chairs, two nice leather chairs, a king size bed, and the bathroom had the usual stuff like a hair dryer, etc.
We used the pool in the spa which is very nice and has two saunas and several big hot tubs. The room was clean and the service was quick, we went out to eat and gamble and by the time we got back at 11 a.
If you want to party and don't want to spend a lot of money, Bally's has the best prices. The Virginia City Buffet was pretty good, as it always is.
Unfortunately due to the recession some of the restaurants and the fabulous Blue Martini bar were closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. You can see how the recession and the casinos in other states have changed this place, there are few if any business conventions, and not that many seniors come off the buses. A few years ago Ballys, particularly the Wild West casino which is attached, were mobbed every day, not anymore. At the Piers mall across from the adjacent Caesars, many of the stores have closed.
But, we had a very good time, and we like the fact that Bally's is in the best part of the boardwalk. We never got in our car and we had access to Ballys, Caesars, Wild West, and the older Claridge, all right there, plus Trump Plaza is right next door, and the Pier Mall right there also.
If it were more expensive I'd rate it a 3 average , but with the happy hours, food comps, etc, Ballys is being very aggressive and that makes it an outstanding value. Read the rest of the reviews and a few words stick out These words couldnt be more true.
We paid for an upgraded room for MY bachleorette party and didnt recieve what we paid for and now they wont refund me the money bc the woman who helped us at the self kiosk changed our rooms upon check in.
Dont bother wasting your money!!! I should have paid the extra money for Harrah's!!!! I booked a comp room at Bally's, the confirmation said "Luxury Tower Room" with a picture of a room in the tower. I booked the room two months in advance. Upon check in we were given a room in the Claridge. The room was awful - the bathroom door didn't close the phone didn't work, the sheets were ripped. There were no pictures on the wall, it looked like they took a cement wall room and put some furniture in it with no thought of it looking nice.
When I came back to the room at 1: They said they would send security up, but we never heard them. Also, the front desk told me I could use the phone in the hall. NO ONE ever told me that the reservation would end at 8pm.
They offered me a king room. I explained that I was not going to sleep in the same bed as my 23 year old son, and I wanted a double - that's what I reserved.
They told me they would put a cot in the room. I stated that for the amount of money I paid to stay at their hotel, I was NOT sleeping on a cot and this was not an acceptable option. I continued to argue with the front desk staff for quite a while, demanding a double room. The girl excused herself to "check" on something. After a VERY long wait, she finally came back and said they would have a room available shortly. Housekeeping just had to clean it.
When we finally got to the room, I was pleased. The room is a good size and the beds are very comfortable. The thermostat was accurate and there was a refrigerator in the room. Everything seemed clean enough - not perfect, but fine. There was also a safe - which I appreciated, being at a casino.
The "ocean view" was a joke! You had to look sideways out the window and then you could see a small piece of ocean between two buildings, but we weren't in the room enough for it to be a big deal. The casino at Bally's ended up being our favorite of the ones we checked out. It's high energy, clean, and there are plenty of gambling options. You can walk from the casino right out onto the boardwalk.
Shops and casinos are in either direction. And there are restaurants right there at the hotel that are yummy. You couldn't choose a better location.
It was easy to walk in either direction to get to other restaurants and attractions. Be sure to save your room key if you park across the street in their garage. Even though there were some glitches, I would still recommend Bally's. The location was awesome, it had convenient parking, the room was nice, and the casino was great. I would stay there again if I go back I'd just be sure to arrive before 8! Not a super pleasant stay but not completely terrible either. The casino is older and is in need of some love from top to bottom.
The bathroom was a bit of a mess. No fault of the cleaning crew as the majority of the problems broken tile, no caulk, etc. To that note, even over the cleaning sprays, the room and hallways still have a musty undertone.
